ATLANTA (August 31, 2023) –The Atlanta Fire Rescue Foundation (AFRF) today announced that IMPACT Development Management (IMPACT) has been selected to assist with capital improvement projects for existing Atlanta Fire Rescue Department (AFRD) fire stations across the City of Atlanta. IMPACT has worked on numerous large-scale projects in the metro Atlanta region, including construction project management for Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Grady Hospital, and Kennesaw State University.

“We are confident in the selection of IMPACT Development Management as lead construction project manager and welcome their partnership as we begin the anticipated capital improvements to the City of Atlanta’s fire rescue stations,” said Taos Wynn, Chief Operating Officer, Atlanta Fire Rescue Foundation. “The members of Atlanta Fire Rescue deserve best-in-class fire rescue stations, and this is a significant step forward. We appreciate the support and partnership of The Honorable Mayor Dickens and his administration, Councilmember Matt Westmoreland who sponsored the legislation along with the full Atlanta City Council and Atlanta Fire Rescue Department.”

IMPACT will partner with AFRF to provide administrative support including the selection of construction contractors to perform the work and steward the process from the start and throughout the duration of the construction renovations and final approvals. The firm also will provide full-service support across information gathering, budget, construction, and post construction needs. The capital improvement projects include but are not limited to kitchen, bathroom, and/or living space renovations. The current scope of work includes 17 of the 36 Atlanta Fire Rescue stations representing districts from across the city.

“We are working closely with the Atlanta Fire Rescue Foundation and the project management team to ensure successful completion of each improvement project and also to minimize disruption to the stations where our 1,200 members work and live during their 24-hour shifts,” said James McLemore, Interim Fire Chief, Atlanta Fire Rescue Department.

A committee consisting of the AFRF Board along with AFRD personnel selected IMPACT after an RFP-led search for a construction project management firm.

About Atlanta Fire Rescue Foundation (AFRF)

The Atlanta Fire Rescue Foundation is the only nonprofit funding agency that supports the critical and otherwise unmet needs of the 1,200 members of Atlanta Fire Rescue Department (AFRD). The Foundation provides a platform for citizens, individuals, and businesses to give in support of AFRD’s mission to keep Atlanta safe. The Foundation is also an opportunity to become engaged in the communities where the 36 AFRD stations live and serve. As the city’s budget is primarily committed to covering firefighter salaries and benefits, the Foundation provides the gap funding necessary to maintain a world-class fire and rescue institution. Support for the Foundation means being a responder for the first responders.
